As a senior capstone project at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, my team and I worked on recreating an object localization activity in a research publication that can be found at https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9543035/. The idea for this project was to create a more realistic VR application where patients are more comfortable doing memory exercises. This project was a continuation of a previous semester’s capstone project.
The device used for testing and demo-ing our project was the Meta Quest 3. The application itself was developed within Unity with C# as the programming language. In a park scene, followed by an apartment scene, users must find/memorize the locations of three objects, then recall where they found them by pointing to a location and confirming. The amount of time taken, and how many tries it took to get it correct are recorded as metrics. The idea of the project is to combine this application with an EEG device to monitor brain activity of patients.
